"Brandy Hyatt is one of the most dedicated teachers I have ever worked with. The attention to detail in her instruction and love and compassion for her students is unmatched. Mrs. Hyatt has led the way in developing our Sensory Room and inspired us to look deeper into addressing the social emotional needs of our students. She is a huge asset to Sullivan Elementary School."
Samantha Phegley, Principal

About Mrs. Hyatt:

Brandy Hyatt earned a bachelor’s degree in education, specializing in Preschool-Grade 3, Mild Intervention from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in 2010. After becoming a mother, she decided to pursue her “life-long dream of becoming a teacher.” Throughout the past nine years as a teacher, Mrs. Hyatt has taught Pre-K, Kindergarten and 2nd grade. She currently teaches Special Education for Kindergarten through 3rd grade.

Why she enjoys teaching:

“Being a teacher is an everyday blessing, for many reasons,” explained Mrs. Hyatt.  “When I am teaching, I am allowed to be creative. I create learning environments, engaging lessons, and activities that promote discovery.”

She continued,Teaching also provides me with an opportunity to be the ultimate problem solver. As the special education teacher, I get to work with all the teachers in grades K-3 and learn from them as we work together to provide our best teaching to the students at SES.”

“Most importantly, the reason I LOVE teaching is that I am able to connect with the KIDS!” said Mrs. Hyatt. “They are the most interesting, humorous, kind, and smart little people on the planet!”

Favorite teaching moments:

“It's all about connection,” said Mrs. Hyatt. “My favorite memories include students who have made connections academically and experience learning success.  When I get to help direct and witness the progress, it's incredible.”

She added, “My other favorite teaching moments include all the students who have made a personal connection with me and thrive on a daily hello, high-five, or hug for encouragement.”

How Mrs. Hyatt spends her free time:

“Outside of school, I spend most of my time with my husband and three children.  Whenever I can find (or make) time,  I love seeing live music, taking road trips, discovering local restaurants with charm, and shopping for unique vintage finds at antique stores.”
